Some alternative gardening gifts come with themes that can be fun. You can purchase an herb set that includes an attached recipe. You can also give the person a nectar-producing plant that attracts butterflies. To make it more fun, add a butterfly-themed book.

I came across this book: They That Sow in Tears by Catherine Chappell and Charles Nolan Sandifer. Both shared the heartache of the loss of a child. Catherine's daughter and Charles' son were on the waiting list for organ transplant. But they did not make it to receive the transplants. In their grief, both found comfort working in their gardens. They found out that they were not alone. Planting a memory garden is a universal response to grief. I never thought of vegetable gardening in this way till I read their book.
market garden The Bow Street in Covent Garden houses many attractions. The Royal Opera House is in Bow Street and is home to Royal Ballet, Royal Opera and Orchestra. The theatre was built in 1732. Fire accidents in 1808 and 1857 gave rise to the current building of the theatre in the same site. The first police station in London was constructed in this street. The street houses a Magistrates court.
gardening with woodchip mulch Mow your grass at a higher length so that it is longer. There is some controversy about whether this is helpful in saving water but it is better for the health of the grass as longer grass has stronger roots and is then more drought resistant. The grass should be mowed to a length of three inches. Aerate your lawn regularly as this will help the water get through the compacted soil and it also provides air to the roots of the grass. How often you should aerate your lawn depends on the type of grass you have and whether or not you remove lawn clippings. Dry spots are an indication that your lawn needs aeration.
As you get the soil in balance for nutrients your plants need and improve the viability of the soil your soil will reward you with fewer pest and disease problems.
Gardening Tools. These are the most common alternative gardening gifts to gardeners. The recipient would be very happy to receive these gifts, as every gardener needs it. You can give simple tools such as a rake to remove leaves and debris from the garden, or an electric blower or vacuum. Other basic tools that every gardener should have are sprinklers, trimmers, and gloves.
Gardening provides low impact exercise with repetitive motions like, digging, bending, and weeding. The end result is you've gotten some much needed exercise, fresh air and your landscaping has improved. What better satisfaction can there be then looking at something you've helped develop. You're more likely to keep up this routine compared to exercising. Gardening provides a visible, touchable goal that can be seen right away.
