In June 2016, a new gambling law was adopted in the Czech Republic. Effective January 1, 2017. Suppliers who want to make their luck games available to Czech customers must apply for a license in the future. Providers without a concession are to be blocked by the internet providers. In addition, strict tax levies are foreseen and as few licenses as possible. At the end of 2016, William Hill became the first prominent gaming player in the Czech market.

Lucky games are particularly popular in the Czech Republic. As in many European countries, however, Sports Betting providers have been moving in a gray zone. The market was not regulated, but foreign companies were not. The revenues of the cities and municipalities through gambling were enormous, especially in the border regions of Germany and Sports Betting Austria as well as in the capital city of Prague. In 2015, the bidders paid 260 million euros in gambling taxes.

But for a few years now, Sports Betting the authorities have been stepping up against gambling.
